In these classes children are actively involved in responding to the message of Scripture in various ways, including music, story telling, and art. Sunday School – Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
Sundays • 9:50-11:15 a.m.

Our year-round Sunday School Program offers children opportunities for nurturing their faith, their knowledge of scripture, and their creative responses to God while taking into consideration that each child is a unique creation, made in God's image.

Three kinds of stories are used: narrative Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments; Jesus’ parables; and liturgical stories dealing with worship, sacraments and rituals of our faith. Children respond to these stories using a variety of art materials, music and drama. Each class includes gathering time, music, story time, time to respond to the story, worship and feast.

As we rely on parent help to supplement our teaching staff, you may be asked to help out in class several times during the year. Your children love it when they can show you how things work in the classroom.

Sunday School – 3rd through 5th Grade
Sundays • 9:50-11:15 a.m.

Our year-round Sunday School Program offers children opportunities for nurturing their faith, their knowledge of scripture, and their creative responses to God while taking into consideration that each child is a unique creation, made in God's image.

This year-round program offers two tracks. The curriculum for year “A”, “Following Jesus”, is a series about the life and ministry of Jesus and the disciples based on the gospel of Mark. The curriculum for year “B,” “Be Still and Know”, covers stories from the Old Testament, additional stories about Jesus’ ministry, parables and early church history. Children will alternate between the two curricula each year. Each child will be assigned to a classroom and teaching stream. Children respond to the stories they hear using a variety of art media, music, drama, research or quiet reflection. Each class includes gathering time, music, story time, time to respond to that story, worship and feast.

As we rely on parent help to supplement our teaching staff, you may be asked to help out in class several times during the year. Your children love it when they can show you how things work in the classroom.

Pre-Confirmation - 6th & 7th grades
Sundays • 9:50-11:15 a.m.

Pre-Confirmation is a two-year course for young people in the 6th and 7th grades. This course prepares young people for Confirmation in 8th grade. The 6th grade Pre-Confirmation class (year 1) studies the Old Testament from Creation through the Prophets and the 400 years between the writings of the Old and New Testaments. The 7th grade Pre-Confirmation class (year 2) studies the New Testament; the birth, life, teachings and miracles of Jesus; the disciples; Paul; the early church; the spread of Christianity and our church today. This full two-year course is designed to pull together what the students have learned through the course of their total Sunday school experience. This course incorporates bible study, history, map study and a sense of time stretching from 2000 BCE to 2000 CE—a 4,000 year span!

We try to build a sense of community; an awareness of stewardship of time, talent and money; and discover things about the Bible, ourselves and the church. We encourage our young people to participate in the Pre-Confirmation classes as they build a foundation and bridge for the whole Confirmation process.

Confirmation - 8th grade
Sundays • 11:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The ultimate goals of Confirmation are: 1) the affirmation of an individual's baptismal vow, 2) instruction in the traditions and tenents of the Church, and 3) the beginning of a life-long relationship with God and the Church. The program is designed to be relevant, engaging and passionate.
Confirmation is taught in a cooperative partnership between all the Pastors, the Director of Youth, and the Confirmation Mentors. This program utilizes classroom settings (with lesson topics ranging from Church History and Sacraments to Faith Matters and Questions & Answers), a retreat, field trips, and home study.
All 8th Graders are encouraged to participate in the Confirmation year, which culminates in each individual making a decision concerning joining the Church.
