Program Description
This program will be new to the ECP for the 2009-2010 program year. This program is designed to give Kindergartners an additional academic boost while providing recreation and socialization. Once children arrive, they will participate in structured learning time, small group activities, free-play and large motor play. This program is offered Monday – Friday. There is an option for children enrolled in PM Kindergarten that is from 9:00-12:00. There is an option for children enrolled in the AM Kindergarten that is from 11:45-2:45. Each day there will be a different curriculum offered so that children can utilize the program for as many as five days or as little as one day. At the end of each day, parents will receive a newsletter highlighting the curriculum and focus for the day. Mondays and Wednesdays will offer a focus on literacy. Tuesdays and Thursdays will offer a focus on science and Fridays will offer a focus on mathematics.
Group Size and Teacher to Child Ratio
The Union Church Early Childhood Programs are licensed by the State of Illinois and are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This means that we follow the group size and student-to-teacher ratios that are recommended/mandated by these organizations.
The KinderBOOST! classroom has one teacher for every 10 children.
Registration and Tuition
Registration is $90for the first child and $55 for the second child that you are enrolling. This registration fee covers all processing expenses including postage. This fee also includes a supply charge for consumable items that are used within the classrooms. This registration fee is non-refundable and due at the time you register your child in the program.
Tuition for the KinderBOOST! Program is:
$35 per day. A monthly tuition amount will be assessed based upon each family’s schedule for attendance.
Tuition is paid one month in advance. Members of the Union Church of Hinsdale receive a 10% discount off of tuition.
Calendar for the Beginning of the Year
After you register your child in the program, you will receive information in the mail from the Union Church ECP. This information will keep you updated on the beginning of the school year and any other information you may need. This information will start coming to your home sometime in July.
Tours for Parents and Children:
The week before the program begins, your family will have a scheduled time when they will be asked to come in and visit the program. This is a time when you will be able to meet the other families who are enrolled on the same day as your child find out more about the program year. During this tour we ask that you bring your child with you so that they will be able to meet their classmates and see their KinderBOOST! Classroom.
Teacher Credentials and Background
Jennifer Hickerson – Ms. Hickerson has been with the ECP for over 10 years. She brings a degree in Recreation and years of experience with school-aged children to the program. Ms. Hickerson has been a part of the development of this program from the very beginning stages. She has been working to design a curriculum that will be fun and challenging.
During the spring of 2009 we will be hiring a second teacher.
Catered Lunch Option
The Union Church Early Childhood Program utilizes a licensed catering company called “Quality Catering for Kids.” We have had a relationship with this company for over 5 years. Why pack a lunch when your child could have one waiting here for them?
The fee for a catered lunch is: $5 per day
