Hank Maxwell Peace & Justice Ministry

Applications are now available for the 2012 Summer Internship provided by the Hank Maxwell Peace & Justice Ministry of Union Church. This internship is a full-time summer experience for an individual who is between junior year in high-school and junior year in college, who might be considering a vocation in advocacy.

The purpose of the internship is to provide an interested person an experience in the field of Advocacy and Social Justice.  We are presently working with our partnership agencies to create this full-time position, so the exact agency with which you will be working will be announced soon.  It will be an agency like Citizen Action IL or Community Renewal Society.  The program will pay, at minimum $ 1000 a month.

Nominations for the Hank Maxwell Peace & Justice Recognition

We are accepting nominations for recognition of anyone in the Union Church family who exemplifies the commitment to Social Justice that was so evident in Hank Maxwell.

This recognition was created in the name of Hank Maxwell, a long time member of Union Church, who epitomized a life lived in the spirit of peace and justice.  Hank lived these values in both his professional and personal life.  The recognition is bestowed upon members of Union Church who have exhibited the same devotion to making peace and justice a reality in our lives with service, humor and devotion.

All Union Church members and friends are eligible for nomination.  All nominations should exhibit the same sense of moral compass and passion that Hank lived so well.

To nominate someone simply write a letter explaining why you believe they deserve recognition, what specifically they have done to promote peace and justice, any pertinent organizations which they are members and any other information you feel the committee should know.
