2012 Stewardship Campaign Update
February 22, 2012

Thank you to all who have pledged toward our 2012 Moving Forward Stewardship Campaign. We now have 338 pledges in hand totaling @1,028,506 as of January toward our $1 million goal. If you have not yet pledged, please mail in your pledge card today! Pledge cards are also available at the Stewardship tab at the website. You may also bring your pledge card to worship and put it in the collection plate on Sunday, or call Gaby at (630) 590.6654 with your pledge information.   Let’s keep Moving Forward toward our goal!

Do not remember the former things,

In the scripture passage chosen for this year’s stewardship campaign the prophet tells the people in exile to remember the good things that have happened to them before and assures them that even better things will happen in the future.

The Union Church of Hinsdale has a rich history.  And now is the time to write new chapters of faithfulness and “Move Forward.”  We need to expand our pledge base, and where possible, have people increase their level of giving, in order to restore and expand our programs.

Last May each Ministry, our staff and other church leadership was asked to identify things that they would do if money was not an issue.  Sixty five ideas were identified by the ministry members and staff.  Some of the ideas that surfaced were:

• Music Ministry would like to present a concert series with guest choirs and also repair the organ before it gets worse.
• Christian Formation/Education  identified a desire to hire a professional  to provide teacher training and to have an intern  from Chicago Theological Seminary on a regular basis;
• Christian Social Justice Ministry felt they would like to budget honoraria for quest speakers.;
• In the areas of Communications and Hospitality people felt that we need to restore funds so that we can advertise our services and programs to build our congregation and to also buy sound abatement and furnishing for the Gathering Place; and
• Mission: Ministry would like to restore funding to five agencies cut last year and who are really struggling.

As you consider your pledge for 2012, we ask that you think

about what The Union Church of Hinsdale has meant to you

and what this church can be and mean as we Move Forward together into the future.

Union Church Stewardship Update - (updated 11.15.2011)

We now have 220 pledges in (including 25 new pledges), for a total of $792,044 toward our $1 million goal!  Keep the needle for 2012 moving forward!  If you have not done so, mail in your pledge card today or bring it to worship and put it on the collection plate on Sunday!

“Moving Forward” - (updated 10.13.2011)

“Moving Forward” is the theme for this year’s Stewardship Campaign and that is exactly what your Church Leadership has done. The Budget Committee and Executive Council set the stage early by identifying four “stretch” initiatives: Christian Formation, Communication & Outreach, Mission, and, Worship & Music. The Stewardship Committee challenged the Church Leadership to “Move Forward” and pledge early. The result is pledge commitments totaling $353,000; that is over one third of our 2012 goal. This year, you can step forward and express your own wishes by designating additional pledge dollars to one of the four initiatives noted above. Commitment Sunday is November 6th; your pledge package will be mailed to you the end of October.
